First things first… a little backstory to help you understand how it all began..
I believe we are all born with a divine purpose, and it seems mine starts with the name.
Rona (pronounced Raw-nuh) is my birthname and I was named after my dad, Ron.
According to the Spanish language, the way my name is pronounced it sounds like: "Rana"; which means: FROG!
Needless to say, I was embarrassed about my name.
That is until one day after being born again, I met a gal who inquired about my name.
I told her the above story, and she graciously put a whole new spin on the meaning.
F.R.O.G. = Fully Rely On God
So now, I fully embrace my name as I do live to fully rely on God!
I do hope that the rest of my story encourages you today and that you choose to be part of my mission.
Hi! I'm Rona - the creator of Reflections of Truth. I'm a photographer, designer and woman of God. My prayer is that the Lord would use this business to help other single women like myself find strength and peace in God alone.
Being single and never having been married, I am no stranger to the stresses and struggles of doing life as a single woman.
There have also been many lonely times where I felt sadly insignificant and longed to just be part of life with someone to love and be loved back.
The one thing I know for certain, is that through all these times of having to go the journey alone (as it would seem), that I am not alone, and I am loved, and I do have a supernatural help that far surpasses that of most earthly help.
Through job losses and many moves, even with new business ventures that never took off… our Great and Mighty God, has been there to help me, restore me, and see me through it all. When I think I can't go one more step, He steps in and refreshes my soul and gives me hope for another day.
I was 37 years old when I was born again in June 2007. Prior to this time, I was a Prodigal for sure. I lived fearlessly taking risks and not giving adventures a second thought. Since the age of 9 or 10, I always found a way to earn money to get something I longed for. I learned at a very young age how to survive - "on my own" in a sense.
Unfortunately, in those early adult years I didn't feel the need to have God in my life. I was young, healthy, wise in my own eyes, and a hard worker, with a whole lot of determination to do life my way.
That is until the day I chose to make a "compromise for the sake of love", in a relationship that I never should have been in, to realize after being saved, that what God says about "causing all things to work together for the good", is true!
This relationship was the catalyst that God used to bring me to the end of myself, and the beginning of Him. Even though that relationship was a very painful lesson, I am most grateful for it, otherwise I would not have the love of God in my life today.
As I look back over my life through all the good, the bad, and the ugly… I can see how God had a plan for me and saving me from myself was necessary! His love was what I needed all along. Romans 5:8 says: "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Truth is: Only Jesus can save us!
I believe that God has allowed me to remain single to go through some incredibly hard trials, many times for months on end, to teach me to depend upon Him and not on myself. To keep me close to Him, and learn more about who He is, and that I really can trust in Him. I have many accounts of how God's love powers through the darkness and provides for my every need.
My struggles may very well be for your sake. To let you know that you too can experience His love and His power in profound ways as I have. To let you know that if you are single right now that you do not have to settle for the next guy to come along, just to help you get through life. I know the difficulties of being single with no college degree on my wall, and learning to trust God to open doors to help me meet my earthly needs.
I have learned that if God's plan for my life should include a husband, then it will happen in His perfect time. And that would apply to you as well. Let Him be your first love, and all His plans for your life will fall together perfectly.
But I also know that "the same Lord is is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him." Romans 10:12 NIV
So, I "hold unswervingly to the hope I profess, for He who promised IS faithful." Hebrews 10:23 NIV (emphasis mine)
My hope for you is that you will come to know this firsthand for yourself and be encouraged by my journey. I feel as though my mission is to be here to encourage you and see you grasp the hope that I have. Run this race with me "to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called (us) heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14 NIV
Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." John 6:63 ESV "For the Word of God will never fail." Luke 1:37 NLT
Do you want the abundant life that Jesus offers us in John 10:10?
Do you want to know Him as your all in all?
He is the Only One who will love you unconditionally and faithfully!
He wants to be your Provider, your Protector, your Guide, your Comforter, and so much more.
Choose today, as I have, to make Jesus #1 in your life.
Commit to studying His Word and memorizing it (as well as praying often) to help you finish not only each day well, but to finish your race victoriously!
Surrender all of you to all of Him and invite Him into your life. He alone will be your love, your joy, your peace, your hope, your security, your nourishment, your rest. He alone heals every wound and restores our souls.
Have you invited Jesus into your heart? If not, I would love to encourage you to do so today. Don't wait. He loves you and wants to be a part of your life.
This is what the Sovereign Lord says: "Those who hope in Me will not be disappointed." Isaiah 49:23 NIV
Pray the following prayer today and invite Him in. He is knocking on the door of your heart now. You only need to open your heart and your life up to Him and He will give you new life in Him.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me! Thank you for dying for my sins so that I could be forgiven of my sins, and able to have a relationship with You. Thank you that one day heaven will be my home. I invite you into my life. Please forgive me and rewrite my future and have my heart from this day on. You are my Lord, my Savior, and my God. By Your power, and Your mercy, I will walk with You. I will be everything that You say that I am. Give me a heart to agree with Your Word and to always say yes to You. Thank you for saving me and making me Your child. In the Precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
If you prayed this prayer today, I want you to know that all of heaven is celebrating YOU right now!
Please drop me a note on Contact page and let me know that you made this commitment today so I can also celebrate with you!
Remember: You are not alone! God promises to always be with you, and now I am here for you also! Looking forward to connecting with you.
Love in Christ, Rona
